About The Position

Plans, organizes, directs and controls the daily activity of Plant Operations and Maintenance Departments. Manages the work activities of these departments to ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained to provide the best possible environment. Coordinates and documents programs to assure compliance with DHFS, OSHA, JCAHO and other agency standards. Completes documentation for all programs. Responsible for the operation and control of the Plant Operations and Maintenance Departments. Authority control scheduling, disciplinary actions, purchase requisitions up to $500.00, enforce policies of the system and acts in the best interest of the United Hospital System. Accountable for pre-defined expectations, employee productivity, conditions of the building, conditions of the equipment, safety of all the facilities, staff levels, prioritizing of work and work assignments and other areas as assigned. Follows through on assigned and own projects of varying degrees of complexity.

Requirements

  • High School plus specialized training (6 mons-2 yrs)
  • > 5 Years
  • Licensure to be eligible to practice as a Licensed Stationary Engineer.
  • Five years experience in a hospital or equivalent in facilities engineering.
  • Ability to read, write, hear, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must have mathematical skill and be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and maintains the Preventive Maintenance programs for all areas.
  • Plans, schedules, supervise and controls work activities of employees to ensure a safe condition of all United Hospital system employees, systems and facilities.
  • Coordinates and oversees contracted and outside services such as Plumbing, HVAC and other such services to maintain the building.
  • Monitors the physical conditions of premises, both internal and external, and follows up accordingly.
  • Observes Staff at work to ensure that instructions are followed.
  • Assures proper staffing and skill levels of departments.
  • Recommends products to address concerns of the facility and infrastructure.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, counsels and disciplines in accordance with policy.
  • Actively participates in other programs that are developed from time to time.
