As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will oversee essential psychological programs that shape well-being and support meaningful progress at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee psychological personnel, direct screenings, guide evaluations, and support therapeutic interventions
  • Develop policies, integrate new procedures, manage counseling programs, and participate in psychological research
  • Lead review teams, coordinate clinical discussions, and manage critical incident response efforts
  • Establish competencies, review psychological measures, and maintain accurate diagnostic reporting
  • Consult with behavioral needs units, advise staff on treatment issues, and evaluate inmate adjustment plans
  • Provide expert testimony, uphold American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, and complete required related duties
