About The Position

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections who is ready to lead critical mental health services within a secure setting at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Mahanoy. Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
  • Must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee psychological staff, provide clinical guidance, and participate in evaluations, counseling, and crisis intervention
  • Develop and integrate psychological services policies, manage counseling programs, and support research projects
  • Lead key institutional committees that address inmate mental health, crisis response, and clinical review
  • Set competencies for psychological services staff, ensure the reliability and validity of clinical measures, and meet American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation standards
  • Evaluate psychological test interpretations and prepare or review diagnostic and progress reports
  • Provide guidance to staff on mental health issues and testify as an expert witness in legal proceedings
