The role requires strong clinical judgment, staff leadership, and coordination of programming that meets state and federal standards.

Requirements

  • One year as a Licensed Psychologist Manager (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years as a Licensed Psychologist, MH or a Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or Two years of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness and/or intellectual disability, one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • Possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of psychology or possession of a current license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. [Pennsylvania licensure must be obtained within one year of employment]
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct departmental work through goal setting, project planning, and review of staff activities
  • Perform psychological testing and interpret evaluations to guide treatment planning
  • Review performance, hire personnel, and manage worker productivity within the department
  • Evaluate departmental effectiveness using established criteria and standards
  • Support growth through counseling, motivation, problem-solving, and training efforts
  • Serve as liaison with education programs and respond to referrals across hospital units
