About The Position

The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) is a licensed clinical team member responsible for providing direct patient care to individuals with acute psychiatric and behavioral health conditions. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the LPT plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-oriented environment. This role is essential to patient safety, behavioral stabilization, and milieu management, supporting patients through crisis, treatment, and recovery while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, legal, and organizational standards. The LPT functions as a frontline behavioral health clinician, actively participating in the interdisciplinary team to promote positive patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current, active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association preferred)
  • CPI or equivalent Crisis Prevention/De-escalation training
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations.
  • Strong empathy skills with a commitment to help people with different mental health diagnosis.
  • Excellent intrapersonal skills, communication skills and listening skills.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the theory and practice of psychotherapy.
  • Strong knowledge of the role of counseling and treatment of the client.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health setting
  • Experience with high-acuity patients (e.g., involuntary holds, co-occurring disorders)
