About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, provides ongoing counseling or therapy services for adults with mental illness. Responsible for direct care to consumers in the clinic and face-to-face as required by policy and contracts. Adhere to the recovery model and strive for the successful discharge of each customer served. Responsible for coordination, planning, and implementation of treatment plans. Must work independently and use good judgment. Follow oral and written instructions, set priorities, and communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a Behavioral Health field (human services/or behavioral sciences related like psychology, sociology, social work).
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas.
  • Required English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Proof of current and up-to-date auto insurance.
  • Ability to commute to El Paso, TX 79905.
  • Ability to relocate to El Paso, TX 79905 before starting work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric treatment to patients of all ages (child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all patient care and treatment.
  • Prepare and submit any required reports for patients treated.
  • Comply with 24-hour lag documentation requirements for assessments, treatment plans, treatment procedures, and discharge summaries.
  • Determine client appropriateness for services using DSM-IV/V-TR/ICD 10 criteria.
  • Assist with intake documentation, including consent for treatment, release of information, and initial assessments.
  • Orient clients to the facility, explaining rules, hours of service, client rights, grievance procedures, and potential costs.
  • Assess clients' strengths and weaknesses using appropriate forms and instrumentation.
  • Develop treatment plans with client participation to address identified problems.
  • Collaborate with clients to rank problems, establish goals, and determine treatment processes and resources.
  • Identify and explore problems and their ramifications, including clients' associated attitudes and feelings.
  • Examine alternative solutions and develop plans of action with client participation.
  • Coordinate service delivery and act as an advocate for accessing other needed services.
  • Provide emergency treatment to patients during regular working hours.
  • Perform counseling services as needed during regular working hours.
  • Review and approve PSR assessments and Recovery Plans for compliance with Texas State and Managed Care Organization requirements.
  • Approve Levels of Care in the CMBHS system, ensuring clinical justification and alignment of Recovery Plans with assessments, patient needs, and client goals.
