About The Position

ERP International is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) to support the BOMC Clinic at the Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center, Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. This role involves providing care for Military Members, their Families, and Retired Military Veterans. ERP International is a nationally respected provider of health, science, and technology solutions supporting clients in the government and commercial sectors.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • One year of practical or vocational nurse experience after graduation.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience must be within the last year.
  • Certified to place intravenous (IV) catheters.
  • Possess current unrestricted RN License from any state.
  • Possess current ARC or AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.

  • Proof of certification to place IV (intravenous) catheters.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Practical Nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Monitors and records age-appropriate physiological data.
  • Orients new patients to the clinic/hospital.
  • Assists with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Provides individualized patient teaching on appropriate topics to include preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
  • Performs appropriate portions of medical examinations, treatment, diagnostic, and clinical procedures.
  • Records treatment and procedures rendered and observed.
  • Identifies and records patient problems and appropriately notifies provider/nursing team of observations.
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and performs treatments according to established policies/procedures.
  • Recognizes urgent or emergent patient care situations, seeks assistance of the RN and/or MD, Nurse Practitioner or Midwife and initiates appropriate emergency interventions as directed to include urgent intravenous access and procedures.
  • Performs and completes specimen collections to include urine, catheter collection, venipuncture, tissue biopsies, KOH, STI swabs, GBS swabs, and any other indicated collections in accordance with unit policies/procedures.
  • Adheres to infection control procedures including use of personal protective equipment, disposal of waste, and aseptic technique.
  • Performs central sterile supply duties.
  • Ensures all equipment is properly assembled, operates, cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift.
  • Ensures preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
  • Performs medical records reviews and applies appropriate protocols and guidelines to determine medical needs.
  • Maintains patient medical records in electronic format as well as hard copy as needed.
  • Prepares and submits administrative reports.
  • Participates in training and continuing education programs for new procedures, techniques, and equipment.
  • Performs Clinical Support Staff Protocols (CSSPs) in accordance with established policies/procedures.
  • Ensures a safe work environment and employee safe work practices.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate, professional, interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other team members.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel.
  • Attends staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education and continuous quality improvement.
  • Maintains professional and courteous attitude towards all patients, staff, and service members.
