About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse to provide care in an institutional setting. The role involves applying nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates/residents, assisting the physician during sick call, administering and documenting medication, managing medical supplies and equipment, and maintaining the security and confidentiality of medical records. Candidates must perform the listed functions at a pace and level consistent with the position’s job performance requirements.

Requirements

• Graduate from an approved school of nursing with a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Hold a license in the state of employment.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Apply appropriate nursing skills in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.
• Attend sick call with the physician; prepare a list of inmates/residents to be examined and prepare the examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by applicable policies and procedures.
• Control and inventory medication, syringes, and other medical supplies or equipment according to established procedures.
• Maintain the security and confidentiality of medical records.
