Licensed Practical Nurse - Emergency Department
About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse contributes to the provision of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare by providing direct and indirect patient care and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team. In a team relationship with the Registered Nurse, the LPN contributes to the nursing process. The role provides patient and family care, supports individualized plans of care, participates in quality improvement and shared governance, and assists with staff education and orientation. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current licensure as a practical nurse by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Providers BLS certification.
- Adherence to Luminis Health credentialing requirements as stated in the nursing bylaws.

- Two years of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to patients and families in a culturally and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Assess patients thoroughly and consistently to collect data and identify learning needs according to established standards and policies.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and individualize a plan of care for each patient.
- Implement patients' plans of care efficiently and demonstrate proficiency in medication administration and pain management.
- Organize and reprioritize patient care activities and act as a 1:1 sitter as needed.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of plans of care and recommend revisions.
- Communicate changes in patient status to the healthcare team.
- Participate in QI, CPI, and risk management activities.
- Participate in unit shared governance.
- Participate in education and orientation of new staff.
