About The Position

PrimeCare Medical Inc. is seeking dedicated and hard-working Licensed Practical Nurses to work evenings in the medical department at the Centre County Jail in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. The role provides comprehensive nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse and ensures relevant information is communicated to appropriate personnel. The position involves maintaining and working with secure electronic medical records. The available shift is per diem. New hires receive a two-week orientation with on-the-job training and shadowing alongside nursing staff.

Requirements

• Hold a current Practical Nurse license in Pennsylvania.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to function under supervision.
• Demonstrate clinical competency.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care under RN supervision.
• Communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel to support the proper flow of information.
• Maintain, update, and secure electronic medical records.
• Maintain accurate records of controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
• Conduct sick call for inmate/patients and provide treatment for illnesses and injuries as defined by written protocol and approved by the PCM Medical Director.
• Observe, report, and document inmate/patient symptoms, reactions, and progress, and participate in formulating plans of care.
• Record, retrieve, and file medical information in inmate/patient medical records.
