About The Position
The Iowa Veterans Home (IVH) in Marshalltown is hiring a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide resident-centered care to Iowa veterans and their spouses. The LPN serves as the leader of a direct care team and provides and oversees licensed treatments for up to 30 residents. Starting pay is $30.89 per hour. A $1,500 recruitment payment is offered to eligible part-time LPNs; current State of Iowa employees are not eligible for the payment upon transfer, demotion, or promotion to another agency. Scheduling options include evening shifts of 8 hours (2 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) and night shifts of 10 hours (8:15 p.m.–6:15 a.m.), with one weekend out of three. A weekend package requires 40 hours every two weekends, specifically on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Weekend-package employees may earn up to $4,000 in retention payments, with lodging and meals available upon request. Applicants are subject to criminal background, dependent adult abuse, and child abuse checks. The State of Iowa participates in E-Verify and complies with federal Right to Work laws.
Requirements
- Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Iowa Board of Nursing, or licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
- Applicants are subject to a criminal background check, dependent adult abuse check, and child abuse check.
Responsibilities
- Provide and oversee licensed treatments for up to 30 residents.
- Assess and evaluate resident conditions, take appropriate action, and adjust care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to support the best resident outcomes.
- Lead and mentor Resident Aides, CNAs, and Medication Aides.
- Respond to acute changes in residents with professionalism, skill, and compassion.
