About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered, full-time (40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC North Dodge Neurology Clinic. This position will primarily support the Neurology Clinic but may float to other patient specialties or clinic locations based on clinical needs. The Neurology Clinic offers consultation, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients with a wide range of nervous system disorders. Requirements

  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
  • Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support provider
  • Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Previous Epic experience
  • Previous Neurology clinic experience
  • One year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
  • Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients.
  • In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
  • In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
