About The Position

PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide on-site medical and wellness services within a federally supported residential youth program in Long Beach, California. This role provides direct clinical services to students and collaborates closely with residential and program staff in a structured, community-based environment. The Licensed Practical Nurse will support the Health & Wellness program through direct patient care, prevention initiatives, health education, and coordination with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary staff.

Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of California.
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a clinical, school-based, residential, or community health setting required.

  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
  • Additional nursing certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site nursing services within the scope of practice under the applicable state nurse practice act and facility Wellness Guidelines.
  • Triaging urgent and emergent medical situations
  • Providing first aid, clinical assessments, and basic treatment
  • Monitoring students with chronic health conditions
  • Administering medications and assisting with examinations
  • Preparing and dispensing medications for overnight and weekend student use as authorized
  • Coordinating referrals and follow-up care with healthcare providers
  • Maintaining accurate and timely medical documentation and records
  • Tracking laboratory results, immunizations, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Delivering individual and group health education sessions
  • Maintaining medical and prescription supply inventories
  • Providing staff training on health and wellness topics
  • Collaborating with community healthcare partners and program leadership
  • Supporting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment
  • Identifying potential health, behavioral, learning, or mental health concerns and referring students as appropriate
  • Mentoring students through professional role modeling and participation in program initiatives as assigned
