About The Position

This position is for a Nurse Resident in Rehabilitation Nursing, starting in December 2026. The role involves attending quality and core curriculum classes, participating in professional development, and completing clinical competencies. The Nurse Resident works under the supervision of the Clinical Education Team and a licensed Registered Nurse, refining nursing knowledge and skills while managing clinical situations. Adherence to organizational policies, including licensure renewal, training, employee health screenings, time and attendance, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration, is required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing.
  • Holds a current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an LPN in the state the team member is working.
  • Candidates with greater than twelve (12) months LPN experience are not eligible to participate.

Nice To Haves

  • If an LPN team member working in this position obtains RN licensure, Prisma Health will accept RN licensure for a limited time until the team member can be placed in an RN position.
  • Team members should immediately notify their manager and Talent Acquisition if they are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Attending all quality and core curriculum classes.
  • Actively participating in professional development workshops and peer support groups.
  • Successfully completing all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program.
  • Managing clinical situations under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Collecting patient data and completing required forms.
  • Identifying patient problems/needs and communicating them to the RN.
  • Reviewing and recording latest diagnostic results.
  • Performing patient care under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
  • Participating in the interdisciplinary care team to provide input on the plan of care.
  • Making referrals to multidisciplinary support services under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
  • Providing treatments/procedures and other care as prescribed.
  • Explaining nursing procedures.
  • Providing discharge teaching.
  • Identifying emergency situations and escalating to the RN.
  • Acting as an advocate for patient care with other health care personnel.
  • Evaluating patient care measures instituted.
  • Recording patient care delivered and any variations with rationale.
  • Making and recording observations related to impending or associated problems.
  • Implementing nursing measures related to impending or associated problems.
  • Integrating cost-effective measures into nursing practice.
  • Recognizing unit problems and escalating to the RN.
  • Demonstrating active participation in QI processes.
  • Complying with hospital expectations to meet staffing demands.
  • Complying with policies addressing safe working conditions.
  • Monitoring unsafe working conditions.
  • Recognizing and resolving inappropriate and/or ineffective patient care management.
  • Fulfilling call for unit as assigned.
  • Adjusting staffing for census (volume) and acuity under the direct supervision of the licensed RN.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
