About The Position

Pattison's Academy is a nonprofit organization with the mission to unlock potential in individuals with disabilities and empower their families. Located in Charleston, South Carolina, we provide individualized, comprehensive, year-round programming for children with disabilities through our charter school, summer camp, therapy services, and early intervention services. Our collaborative model places the child at the center of care and surrounds them with a multidisciplinary team of specialized providers, ensuring that all children’s needs are addressed with compassion and expertise. By consolidating their care network, we provide a one-stop destination with the tools necessary for children with disabilities and their families to thrive.

Requirements

  • Current South Carolina LPN License
  • CPR/BLS certifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably with children with disabilities
  • Experience in pediatric, school, or community nursing settings preferred
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and families

Responsibilities

  • Administers prescribed medications.
  • Assists with children's personal hygiene needs, including oral feeding, tube feeding, toileting, and catheterization.
  • Implements interventions such as breathing treatments, suctioning, changing dressings, etc.
  • Monitors basic student health, including taking vitals as needed.
  • Implement established emergency protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Assess and triage medical situations, providing immediate care and intervention as needed until further medical assistance arrives.
  • Collects and charts health data.
  • Consults with Nursing supervisor concerning health plans.
  • Completes daily documentation required for billing.
  • Follows all Pattison’s Academy policies and procedures.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to the pace and needs of the children and the program.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
