About The Position

BAMSI is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide hands-on, personalized care in community-based group homes serving adults with complex medical needs, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury, and/or mental illness. Each home supports 3–8 individuals, offering opportunities to build relationships with the people receiving care and their families. The nurse is assigned to a primary program and must be able to provide coverage across the designated program region or cluster.

The schedule is Monday and Thursday, 11 p.m.–7 a.m., for 16 hours. Additional shift and regional differentials may apply when applicable. BAMSI describes its nursing team as dedicated caregivers who provide direct care that draws on critical thinking, analytical abilities, and support for wellness.

Requirements

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Massachusetts.
• Driver’s license and reliable car.
• Experience supporting mental health needs, either personally or professionally.
• Clear communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Fluency in English.
• May be asked to become certified in MAP during the first 6 months.

Nice To Haves

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts, driver's license, and reliable car.
• Ability to speak multiple languages.

Responsibilities

• Manage medical care and medications for persons served.
• Train staff on safe medication practices in compliance with the DPH Medication Administration Program (MAP).
• Respond to emergencies and de-escalate crises with persons served.
• Train staff on health and safety rules.
• Document incidents as required.
• Keep programs up to date with medical and medication laws, including required paperwork and inspections.
• Provide coverage across the designated program region or cluster.
