About The Position
Unity Psychiatric Care, a division of American Health Partners Inc., operates psychiatric hospitals in Tennessee and Alabama that specialize in treating geriatric patients experiencing mental health crises or behavioral disturbances, including those related to dementia. Under general supervision, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing services, instruction, and assessments throughout the hospital. The position participates in nursing assessments, direct patient care, and health education, and is accountable for delivering care in accordance with Unity, CMS, and licensure standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- At least six months of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other health care institution.
- Completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program.
- Current state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours.
- Travel is required.
- Position may require unscheduled overtime and weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Supervise resident and patient treatments.
- Assist physicians and the Director of Nursing with patient treatment and examination.
- Document nurses’ notes, physicians’ orders, discharge plans, dietary changes, reports, evaluations, and studies.
- Order medications from the pharmacy, prepare them, and administer them as ordered by a physician.
- Conduct and monitor prescribed treatments, including dressing changes, blood draws, catheter changes, NG tube insertion and removal, and laboratory work, as assigned.
- Perform emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation; in the event of a death, notify family and appropriate third parties.
- Inventory and request equipment and supplies.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge patients.
