This position may provide direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines and established facility policies and procedures. The role involves promoting holistic care for residents, ensuring compliance with policies, and participating in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers. The nurse will assess residents' status changes, notify physicians and families, transcribe physician orders, administer medications, perform wound treatments, and schedule follow-up appointments. This role also provides direct care skills such as colostomy changes, tube feedings, wound care, suctioning, and IV administration. The nurse will conduct rounds, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and participate in management meetings. They may also assist in evaluating work performance, address concerns and complaints, report incidents, and participate in end-of-life care. Ensuring adequate stock of medications and supplies, initiating and updating care plans, promoting teamwork, and participating in survey processes and QAPI activities are also key responsibilities. The nurse must ensure infection control principles are followed and help correct deficiencies.
