About The Position

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is seeking dedicated Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to work in the medical department at St. Mary's Detention Center in Leonardtown, Maryland. The position provides comprehensive nursing care under the supervision of an RN and includes maintaining and updating secure electronic medical records. A two-week orientation period includes on-the-job training and shadowing nursing staff.

Part-time evening shifts are 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and part-time night shifts are 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Both shifts include rotating weekends. The stated hourly pay range is $29.00–$34.00; the posting notes this is not a sliding scale based on experience and reflects base pay and shift differentials.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Maryland.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to function under supervision.
• Demonstrated clinical competency.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care and ensure relevant information is communicated to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain, update, and secure electronic medical records.
• Maintain accurate records of controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
• Conduct sick calls for inmates/patients and provide treatment for illnesses and injuries under written protocols approved by the PCM Medical Director.
• Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmates/patients.
• Participate in formulating plans of care.
• Record, retrieve, and file medical information in inmate/patient medical records.
