About The Position

The Tla’amin Nation is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a casual, on-call position at Tla’amin Health. The LPN will practice within the context of a client and family-centered care model, adhering to the standards of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). This role involves providing care to stable and/or predictable clients and families, often under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. The successful applicant will work in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement and Tla’amin Health policies, and must be in good physical health. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three years’ recent related experience working as a Licensed Practical Nurse providing care in the community of acute (medical/surgery/palliative, simple wound care) care setting or equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Experience with Microsoft office package (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • First aid and CPR or willingness to obtain.
  • Class 5 Driver’s license and acceptable abstract.
  • Acceptable recent criminal record check with vulnerable sector check.

  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with a variety of situations and responsibilities requiring initiative, creativity and professional judgment.
  • Demonstrated skill in clinical techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding citizens, clients, employees, and Nation matters.
  • Works closely with the Primary Care team in direct care activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care.
  • Supports clients and families to achieve and maintain optimal health.
  • Provides culturally safe and competent care, specifically pertaining to Indigenous people and more specifically Tla’amin Nation.
  • Works with clients and families across the life span.
  • Works with Medical, Surgical and Palliative clients.
  • Utilizes community resources and policies.
  • Applies decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional team.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Deals with conflict situations effectively.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work.
  • Performs the duties of the position with physical ability.
  • Utilizes basic computer programs (Word, Microsoft Outlook).
  • Applies clinical techniques and uses applicable equipment and supplies.
