About The Position

Provide nursing care to ED Care patients in conjunction with supervising physician. Complete daily nursing duties associated with eating disordered patients. This role involves direct patient care, medication administration, lab work, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a medical office environment.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Colorado within 60 days of hire required.
  • Active CPR Certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification within 60 days of hire required.
  • Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.
  • Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred.
  • Experience in a mental or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily nursing duties, including specimen collection, point-of-care lab testing, phlebotomy, medication administration, following through with orders, performing EKGs, observing and recording weights, vitals, and bathroom observation.
  • Work alongside a registered nurse to carry out nursing duties and orders.
  • Order standing labs protocol, record and notify the provider and registered nurse of findings of relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests; follow up with necessary labs; share results of labs with the provider, escalating priority results with appropriate staff.
  • Address patients’ medical concerns and inquiries; listen and communicate by providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner; request information and resources needed to provide care.
  • Collaborate on care delivery by including milieu staff, physicians, and interdisciplinary team management in service and patient care improvements; treat all members with respect; demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct.
  • Provide knowledgeable and thorough nursing coverage in conjunction with other medical staff.
  • Work assigned shifts, according to FTE.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of appropriate medications.
  • Regularly reconcile prescribed medications for assigned patients and notify providers of any concerns.
  • Adhere to Infection Control standards for EDCare.
  • Educate and adhere to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CDC & OSHA regarding monitoring infections in staff and patients.
  • Provide patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy of certain medications.
  • Provide patient education about medical complications of eating disorders.
  • Ensure timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: weights and vital signs and progress notes.
  • Assist milieu staff with milieu management, and any other assistance needed.
  • Adhere to, comply with, and demonstrate support for the mission and values of EDCare.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.
  • Provide and accept feedback in a respectful manner from all staff.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, open communication, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
