About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides direct and indirect patient care in a specialized Oncology unit at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this role supports cancer patient care, symptom management, and treatment support while promoting patient safety, comfort, quality outcomes, and a positive patient experience.

The role is full-time, works nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. in 12-hour shifts, and offers an estimated pay range of $27.00 to $30.75. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
• IV certification and Blood Withdrawal (BW) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for oncology and hematology patients.
• Monitor vital signs, symptoms, and treatment side effects, including pain, nausea, and fatigue.
• Assist with medication administration, IV therapy, and blood draws.
• Support chemotherapy and infusion processes within the scope of practice.
• Collaborate with registered nurses, physicians, and oncology care teams.
• Ensure patient safety, infection control, and protective precautions.
• Document care in EMR/EHR systems.
• Promptly communicate changes in a patient’s condition.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families.
