This position provides direct nursing care to residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by licensed practical/vocational nurses and certified nursing assistants. The role operates in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, as well as established facility policies and procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse promotes holistic care for residents, ensures compliance with policies, and participates in resident admissions, discharges, and transfers. This role involves assessing resident status changes, transcribing physician orders, administering medications, performing wound treatments, and coordinating follow-up appointments and transportation. The position requires providing direct care skills, ensuring resident needs are met, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The Licensed Practical Nurse also participates in management team meetings, may assist in evaluating staff performance, and reports any incidents or concerns to appropriate personnel. Responsibilities include end-of-life care, ensuring adequate supplies, and updating care plans. The role promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication, and participates in survey processes and QAPI activities. Ensuring infection control principles are followed is also a key responsibility.
