The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) prepares and rooms patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs and documenting health information. They perform laboratory procedures, assist physicians with procedures, and administer medications under physician orders. The LPN also provides basic patient education, follows through with necessary requests, and communicates with the healthcare team. Advanced clinical tasks may be performed under supervision. The role involves organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. Patient positioning and transporting duties are also part of the role, requiring lifting and pushing/pulling. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment are performed. The LPN participates in patient-centered initiatives and quality improvement activities. This role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
