About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and within the scope of their license. The role is in the 6 East – Med Surg department at UAB St. Vincent’s East in Trussville and is scheduled full-time nights, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. A bonus of up to $10,000 may be available for full-time positions. Requirements
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of the hire date or job transfer date; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or physician and within the scope of the LPN license.
- Contribute to patient assessments and help assure patients’ well-being.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients and families about disease treatment plans, post-discharge self-care, holistic health needs, available resources, and follow-up care.
