Licensed Practical Nurse--1 (Part Time WAE)
About The Position
The Louisiana Veterans Home is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to support nursing staff in providing high-quality medical, restorative, and rehabilitative care to Louisiana veterans. The home’s mission is to serve veterans in an atmosphere of respect and compassion, with the goal of helping residents reach the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. This WAE-PRN position offers the opportunity to contribute to that mission. The classified WAE appointment may not exceed 1,245 hours in a 12-month period. Compensation is $28.00 per hour plus shift differential pay, with rates varying by shift, day, and holiday schedule.
Requirements
- Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multistate license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered.
- Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or behavioral status and report significant changes to the Supervisor and Physician.
- Transcribe and carry out physicians’ orders.
- Document information in residents’ medical records.
- Obtain specimens for laboratory testing.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed.
