About The Position
The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered Licensed Practical Nurse to work at the North Liberty Pediatrics Clinic. The position is 80% time (32 hours per week) and will primarily support Pediatrics, with possible floating to other patient specialties and clinic locations, including Family Medicine and Specialty/Outreach Clinics, based on clinical need and hours. The clinics provide services including pregnancy and infant wellness care, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health care, and on-site laboratory services. The team builds relationships with patients, monitors their care histories, and provides personalized, compassionate care, coordinating with UI Health Care specialists when needed. The LPN provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, participates in developing nursing care plans and implementing therapeutic programs, and may direct and supervise assigned nursing personnel in less complex situations. In more complex situations, the LPN assists the registered professional nurse. The role is a regular salaried position located in North Liberty, Iowa, with possible work at surrounding clinic locations. Schedule hours vary Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Candidates must hold an Iowa LPN license or be eligible for a temporary work permit, maintain required continuing education, hold Basic Cardiac Life Support provider certification, and meet University driving standards. The department plans to hire one candidate from either this LPN position or a Medical Assistant II position, based on qualifications.
Requirements
- Be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or be eligible for a temporary work permit.
- Complete required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
- Hold Basic Cardiac Life Support provider certification.
- Have a current valid driver's license and the ability to meet University driving policy and fleet safety standards.
- Be available to support other clinical locations based on clinical need and hours.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities
