About The Position

Administers nursing care within scope of practice as set forth in Division (F) of Section 4723.01 of Ohio Revised Code under direction of registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist or chiropractor. Maintains medication accountability records, observes, documents & reports patient conditions, and prepares/maintains related reports and records. Provides general nursing, direct care and/or programming assistance. Provides assistance to lower-level direct care staff in providing general unskilled nursing care to patients and attends and participates in various meetings as assigned. Orders medication and medical supplies, cleans nurses station and medication room/medication cart, and performs clerical tasks.

Requirements

  • License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code.
  • MDS certification issued by ANNAC (i.e. American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
  • Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of client/patient care.
  • Knowledge of first-aid.
  • Knowledge of CPR.
  • Knowledge of general hospital practices & procedures.
  • Knowledge of agency, institutional, hospital or clinic practices & procedures.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations & standards.
  • Knowledge of human relations.
  • Knowledge of inventory control.
  • Knowledge of employee training & development.
  • Skill in use of medical equipment (e.g., respirator, dialysis machine, sterilizer, oxygen equipment, blood pressure cuff).
  • Skill in use of hypodermics.
  • Skill in operation of personal computer.
  • Ability to understand practical field of study.
  • Ability to deal with some abstract but mostly concrete variables.
  • Ability to recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate emergency action.
  • Ability to develop good rapport with patients &/or residents.
  • Ability to understand manuals & verbal instructions associated with practical nursing.
  • Ability to demonstrate dexterity to administer injections & perform medical treatments.
  • Ability to demonstrate strength to move, reposition or restrain patients.
  • Must submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use.
  • Must undergo a criminal background check.
