LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse -Telemetry Unit - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work on the Telemetry Unit, a private, 18-bed unit specializing in the care of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Nurses on this unit will develop skills in detecting medical or cardiovascular issues, communicating with providers, and identifying interventions to prevent emergent situations. The role involves utilizing advanced telemetry nursing support technology to provide the highest level of care. Responsibilities include assessments, rhythm interpretations, lab value analyses, patient and family education, wound care, IV management, and medication administration and management.
Requirements
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent required.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician, functioning within scope of license.
- Contribute to the assessment of patients and assure the well-being of patients.
- Administer medications and observe patients for adverse reactions to medications or treatments.
- Perform laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
- Educate patients/families about disease treatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic health needs, available resources and follow up care.
