About The Position

Under the supervision of the Site Administrator/Coordinator, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing services to patients in a correctional environment. The LPN delivers nursing care as directed by the Physician and within the scope of the State Board of Nursing Practice for the LPN. The role includes responding to emergencies, conducting patient intake and sick-call activities, administering medications and treatments, assisting providers, monitoring and documenting patient conditions, and completing daily nursing tasks. Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited vocational or technical school.
• Current and valid LPN or LVN license.
• Current CPR certification.
• At least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting as an LPN.

Responsibilities

• Respond and intervene in emergency situations.
• Conduct patient intake paperwork.
• Verify and obtain orders for patient medication.
• Conduct sick-call clinics.
• Order and maintain supplies of patient medication from the pharmacy.
• Administer medications according to nursing standards and correctional regulations.
• Complete and document ordered treatments, patient care, and ordered laboratory collections.
• Assist the provider with Chronic Care Clinic and provider sick-call visits.
• Monitor, report, and document changes in patients’ conditions.
• Accurately document patient information, nursing care, and interventions.
• Ensure daily nursing tasks are completed within the prescribed timeframe.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
• Follow QCHC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
