About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for their Ambulatory Breast/Endo/Bari/GI/Hepato-Pan Surgery department. This role involves providing direct patient care to pediatric and adult patients across various specialties. The LPN will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor, collecting patient data, communicating findings, and participating as a member of the healthcare team. The position emphasizes relationship-based care, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor and instruct. Requirements

Graduate of a school of practical nursing or passed LPN Boards after a defined period in a professional nursing program (e.g., some states allow RN students to take the LPN board exam after completing one to two years in the RN program).
If graduation did not occur within the last two years, one year of LPN experience working in an applicable setting is required.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience working in a team environment.
Computer skills required.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
Current LPN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

One year of LPN experience within the last five years preferred.
Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides care to pediatric and adult patients in a variety of specialties including Plastics, Gynecology, Thoracic, Breast, Endocrine, Bariatric and Liver/Pancreas.
Provides nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of the registered nurse (RN) or other assigned supervisor and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor in meeting the needs of the patient/family.
Collects data through observation and communicates information to assist the RN and/or provider in patient assessment and care planning.
Participates as a member of the health care team and accepts delegation from the RN/assigned supervisor and provider in meeting needs of the patient/family.
Delivers care in accordance with the patient care plan, policies and procedures of the organization and principles of relationship-based care.
Possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and instructing; and may participate on committees or projects, including quality improvement projects.
