About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision and guidance of Nursing leadership or a Physician. The LPN participates in multidisciplinary patient care and treatment and provides clinical support and technical assistance to professional medical and other staff. The role requires working within the scope of applicable federal and state regulations, managing a demanding workload accurately, providing excellent customer service, and supporting hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Current Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• At least 1 year of medical/surgical experience.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care according to individual patient needs.
• Understanding of clinical risk.
• Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
• BLS certification required before the first date of employment.
• ACLS certification required within three months of hire.
• IV certification required before the first date of employment.
• Intermediate computer skills and understanding of electronic medical charting (EMR).

Nice To Haves

• 5 years of medical/surgical experience preferred.
• PALS certification is optional.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality patient care.
• Assist in assessing patients’ physical, psychological, and social needs.
• Assess and document changes in patient status, notifying the charge nurse and provider when appropriate.
• Assist in developing a plan of care for each patient, using nursing diagnoses as the basis for goal setting and nursing interventions.
• Explain the plan of care to patients and their families.
