About The Position
The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered, full-time (40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC Neurology Clinic. This position will primarily support the Neurology Clinic but may float to other patient specialties or clinic locations based on clinical needs and hours. The Neurology Clinic offers consultation services, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for adult patients with a wide range of nervous system disorders. Our general neurologists are dedicated to providing specialized care with a generalist approach, ensuring innovative, effective, and personalized diagnosis and treatment for various neurological conditions. Patients with any neurological problem, uncertainty about their condition, experiencing symptoms, or requiring an evaluation can receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic. For over 100 years, Iowa Healthcare has prioritized patient health and wellness, offering care for pregnancy, baby wellness, vaccinations, school and athletic physicals, acute visits, annual check-ups, mental health services, and on-site laboratory services. Our team focuses on building patient relationships, monitoring care history, and delivering personalized, compassionate care. When specialty care is needed, our family medicine provider facilitates seamless referrals to UI Health Care specialists, ensuring medical records are shared. Requirements
- Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit.
- Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support provider.
- Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

- Previous Epic experience
- Previous Neurology clinic experience
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
- Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
- Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients.
- In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel.
- In more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse.
