About The Position

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a 100% Medical Assistant II (40 hours per week) to work at our Urology Northgate Medicine Clinic. This specialty clinic provides convenient medical and surgical care for male and female patients, and selected services for pediatric patients. The position will primarily support the Northgate Urology Clinic but may float to other clinic locations based on clinical needs and hours. Our experts offer comprehensive evaluation and treatment in the clinic setting, as well as surgical interventions for all urologic system diseases and disorders. Our multidisciplinary teams are composed of medical and surgical specialties from across the institution to provide patient-centered care. Requirements

  • Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Urology Clinic experience is preferred
  • Previous experience in a team-orientated environment is preferred
  • Phlebotomy experience is preferred
  • Previous experience with computer skills and ability to navigate EMR – Epic, Word, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Staff will support our Urology Clinic.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned
