About The Position

The LPN/RN is responsible for providing direct or indirect nursing care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems; utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices and ethics; participates in the organization and management of the physicians’ practice.

Requirements

  • Graduation certificate from accredited LPN or RN school of nursing
  • Active LPN or RN License

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician in setting up for procedures and exams, revising daily schedules; obtaining charts and charge tickets, locating lab tests and X-ray reports.
  • Assure patient health record is accurate and current.
  • Contact pharmacy to order new and refill prescriptions; notify patients.
  • Notify hospital or skilled nursing facility personnel of physicians orders.
  • Schedule diagnostic tests and procedures; notify patients of test results; schedule follow-up appointments as appropriate.
  • Triage patients to ensure productive departmental flow.
  • Record health history and vital signs of patients; note abnormal conditions for physician.
  • Prepare/drape patient for exam; assist with procedures such as paps, sigmoids, etc.
  • Perform catheterizations, hemoccult tests, vision screenings; apply splints, Ace wraps; change dressings; remove sutures and staples.
  • Perform venipunctures and fingersticks; start or DC IV (if certified).
  • Collect specimens for lab and enter lab orders.
  • Document in EMR all transactions, phone conversations, and orders.
  • Administer antigens in correct dosages; observe patient for reactions.
  • Train patients in self-administration of insulin, when appropriate.
  • Keep test apparatus clean and filled; update and maintain procedure manuals.
  • Set up stock rooms; clean rooms between procedures.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment following procedures.
  • Order and maintain inventories of supplies and medications.
  • Ensure all medications (oral and parenteral) are current.
  • Collect data for Medicare wellness exams as needed.
  • Follow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
  • Screen pharmaceutical representatives.
  • Collect and maintain patient information needed for ACO reporting.
  • Obtain ABN waivers as needed.
  • Precert procedures &/or test and do referrals when needed for managed care insurance.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
