About The Position

This full-time, day-shift position supports Family/Occupational Medicine at Mary Washington Healthcare. The role is offered for either a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant (MA), with duties depending on the selected role. Both roles help manage patient flow, obtain and document vital information, support providers, and contribute to quality patient service in keeping with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives. The LPN provides nursing services in a physician office, including rooming patients, recording histories and vital signs, assisting with examinations and procedures, educating patients and families, responding to treatment-related calls, and coordinating appointments, tests, authorizations, and surgeries. The LPN also maintains patient records and supplies, supports front-office functions when needed, and may provide clinical coverage across Mary Washington Medical Group practices. The MA escorts and prepares patients for visits, reviews charts and history forms, obtains and documents complaints and vital signs, prepares exam rooms, and assists providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments. The MA may draw blood or collect other specimens, route specimens to laboratories, document care, communicate provider instructions within the scope of training, phone in prescriptions based on written orders, and help arrange follow-up appointments, procedures, and testing. The MA is not authorized to interpret results or independently provide medical advice.
