About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care and clinical support to individuals receiving behavioral health and crisis services. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner, or Physician, the LPN supports clinical operations, promotes patient safety, and assists in delivering high-quality, person-centered care in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. This role is critical in supporting assessment, monitoring, treatment coordination, and continuity of care for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises. This is a contingent role.

Requirements

  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Michigan
  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Ability to work effectively in a behavioral health and crisis care environment
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavioral health, crisis services, emergency, inpatient psychiatric, or community mental health settings
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms or substance use disorders
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR)
  • CPI, de-escalation, or crisis intervention training (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with scope of practice, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform vital signs, health screenings, and basic clinical assessments
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered and within licensure
  • Monitor individuals for changes in condition and report concerns promptly to clinical leadership
  • Assist with intake, triage, and coordination of care as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Support crisis stabilization efforts and maintain a safe therapeutic environment
  • Document nursing care, observations, and interventions accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Assist with infection control, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures
  • Participate in care planning and communication with providers, case managers, and support staff
  • Support discharge planning and continuity of care activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations
  • Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive care
