About The Position

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for its Family Practice Clinic. The schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Under the direction of an RN, the LPN contributes to patient assessment by collecting data for RN analysis and performs plan-of-care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. The role may include medication administration, documenting care, and assisting the RN with care-plan development.

The LPN assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors and communicates patient status and responses to interventions, and advocates for patients’ physical and emotional well-being. Additional duties include scheduling appointments and procedures, obtaining insurance re-authorizations, attending clinic meetings, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, reporting incidents and hazards, completing safety instruction, and assisting other team members when time permits.

The position requires graduation from an approved practical nursing program, an active Kentucky LPN/PN license in good standing, and BCLS certification within 30 days of hire. Candidates should have knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits, and healthcare backgrounds.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current LPN/PN license to practice in Kentucky, in good standing with the Board of Health Professions; an active Kentucky single-state or compact license is required.
• If relocating, update licensure to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits, and healthcare backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient data to support assessment and analysis by an RN.
• Perform plan-of-care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• Administer medication as appropriate.
• Document patient care provided.
• Assist the RN with developing the plan of care.
• Help patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patients’ status and reactions to interventions to the RN, physician, patients, and families.
• Advocate for patients’ physical and emotional well-being.
• Schedule appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtain insurance re-authorizations for testing and scheduled procedures as requested.
• Attend clinic meetings.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report incidents, hazards, and drug interactions and initiate appropriate action.
• Complete safety instructional programs.
• Assist other team members when time permits.
