About The Position

FryeCare Generations Family Medicine is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join their team. This role is crucial in providing direct patient care within a family medicine clinic setting. The LPN will work under the supervision of a registered nurse, contributing to patient assessments, managing medical necessity documentation, and ensuring appropriate precertifications for hospital admissions. The position emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage patient care within a supervised framework, ensuring patient status aligns with medical necessity for reimbursement. Requirements

  • Current state LPN license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active North Carolina LPN license (single-state) or compact required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Previous Family Medicine or Pediatric Care is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to patients as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by a registered nurse.
  • Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions while obtaining precertifications.
  • Performs admission and concurrent precertifications for patients to ensure that the claim has an authorization number to prevent denials.
  • Reviews charts for clinical information to obtain precertification.
  • Maintains proper telephone etiquette to referral sources.
  • Manages patients under RN case manager supervision.
  • Evaluates patient status to ensure it is correct per medical necessity for appropriate reimbursement.
