About The Position

Stonington Institute, a division of Universal Health Services (UHS), is seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Stonington Institute provides substance abuse treatment options for adults in Southeastern Connecticut, offering medical detox and residential addictions treatment. They also have a clinic in Groton, CT, that offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. The Inn at Trails Corner is a new 180-bed sober living community for adult men and women attending their outpatient programs, offering overnight accommodations and various amenities. This role contributes to client care under the direction of a Registered Nurse by collecting and reporting data, participating in care strategy development, and assisting with directed care. The LPN will also monitor the medical aspects of treatment for individuals with substance dependence and behavioral health conditions.

Requirements

Graduate of a licensed professional nurse training program.
Licensed in the State of Connecticut as a licensed professional nurse.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one year experience working in the Mental Health or Substance Abuse field preferred.

Responsibilities

Reconciles medication and performs health screenings.
Accurately notes, transcribes, and implements Physician’s orders and faxes prescriptions to pharmacy.
Participates in the assisting, delegating, and giving of directed care.
Participates in the development of a strategy of care in consultation with other nursing personnel.
Evaluates client’s medical condition.
Inventories current medications and updates medication reconciliation form in chart.
Reports to staff on medical conditions of clients and any medication changes.
Ensures that appropriate medications and supplies are available and orders medications from the pharmacy as needed.
Educates clients on medications, medication management, health maintenance, substance abuse, and other applicable topics.
Monitors the medical aspects of treatment of persons afflicted with substance dependence and behavioral health conditions.
