About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivering treatments, assisting in assessments, and supporting interdisciplinary care planning in accordance with the patient’s needs. Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 57-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital dedicated to the treatment and recovery of individuals who have experienced the debilitating effects of a severe injury or illness. Our rehabilitation programs provide ongoing care and specialized treatment to patients throughout their recovery journey. We offer customized, individualized rehabilitation tailored to the specific needs of those recovering from a stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation, and orthopedic injury. Knoxville Rehabilitation Hospital strives to maximize the health, function, and quality of life of those we serve through comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation programs. We are accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF-accredited for our Stroke Specialty program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.
  • Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; IV Certification highly preferred or must be obtained within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum six months of Medical/Surgical experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
  • Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
  • Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
  • Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
  • Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
  • Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
  • Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
  • Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
