About The Position

Minden Medical Clinic is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to work weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a Saturday rotation typically every 6th or 7th weekend from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. This role involves working closely with a dedicated Clinic Provider, preparing patients for examinations, administering medications and injections, maintaining patient records, managing supplies, and performing specific laboratory tests as licensing allows. The position also includes phone triage, making referrals, ordering and tracking medication supplies, managing the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, serving on the KCHS Safety Committee, and notifying the Infection Control Nurse of exposures. The ideal candidate will work harmoniously with colleagues, be punctual, adaptable to change, and demonstrate kindness and sensitivity to patients and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Nursing diploma from an approved program of nursing
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Nebraska
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Works in harmony with assigned co-workers and other department staff.
  • Is punctual in attendance.
  • Adjusts personal schedule to work as scheduled.
  • Provides proper notification for absence as per hospital policy.
  • Accepts and responds to constructive criticism, assigned duties and suggestions in a cooperative manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to accept and implement change.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for and assists with examinations.
  • Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions.
  • Interprets practitioner’s instructions to the patients.
  • Assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed by practitioner.
  • Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data.
  • Keeps Drug Room supplies up to date and counts narcotics daily.
  • Maintains stock of supplies and medications.
  • Conducts specific laboratory test, as licensing allows.
  • Screens calls to practitioners, answering patient questions under the practitioners’ guidance.
  • Makes referral appointments with other physicians.
  • Maintains stocking of supplies and equipment.
  • In charge of scheduling both the event and staffing of the annual flu shot clinics.
  • Provides education for and inspections of child safety seat installation.
  • Ordering and tracking of medication supplies.
  • Maintains Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.
  • Serves on the KCHS Safety Committee.
  • Notifies the Infection Control Nurse of real or potential exposures.
