About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide nursing care to patients. The framework for practice will be the nursing process in order to prescribe, delegate and coordinate nursing care. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides proficient, compassionate, and professional patient-centered care by effectively communicating with patients, co-workers, and providers. Provides patient care support as delegated by Provider or Registered Nurse (RN). Demonstrates knowledge of available resources within Lake Region Healthcare and the broader community to support comprehensive patient care. The LPN practices in accordance with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and LRHC policies and procedures. This role requires sound clinical judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively to ensure safe, comprehensive, and compassionate patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) must be able to supervise others as assigned including LPN’s, nursing assistants, clerks, and students. The RN has contact with patients, patient families and visitors, PRHHS employees, referral agencies, volunteers, administration, and physicians. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this position. The RN must be able to provide patient care, secure cooperation from others, problem-solve, and exercise initiative and judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing (for LPN).
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (for RN).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform within the nursing scope of practice (for LPN).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform within the registered nurse scope of practice (for RN).
  • Current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within six months.
  • Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work at the clinic site as scheduled, including travel to other clinic sites.
  • Current Minnesota LPN Licensure (for LPN).
  • Current Minnesota RN Licensure (for RN).
  • CPR Certificate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Performs nursing care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, or provider, consistent with the LPN scope of practice defined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing (for LPN).
