About The Position

This position offers the opportunity to work as either a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Medical Assistant within Meadville Cardiology. The role is full-time with day shifts. The LPN responsibilities include providing nursing care as per state board regulations. The Medical Assistant responsibilities include providing a range of clinical services to patients and assisting physicians and other practitioners with patient care. This includes tasks such as assisting with treatments, obtaining and processing specimens, maintaining medical records, managing supplies, patient education, taking patient histories and vitals, triaging patient calls, handling prescription refills, communicating results, processing prior authorizations, answering telephones, and scheduling appointments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a diploma school of nursing approved by State Board of Nurse Examiners (for LPN role).
  • Licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Pennsylvania (for LPN role).
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to type and be efficient with computers/data entry equipment.
  • Ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Ability to prioritize activities, organize work, and problem solve.
  • Above average to excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with the public sector by telephone and in person.
  • Ability to deal with anxious and angry people.
  • Ability to communicate with Administrative Staff, Managers, Attorneys, Physicians, and all hospital staff with due respect and tact.
  • Understanding of confidentiality rules is a must without exception (for Medical Assistant role).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred graduate of a medical assistant program (for Medical Assistant role).
  • Sufficient experience may be substituted for the educational requirement (for Medical Assistant role).

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical assistant services to patients and families.
  • Assist physicians and mid-level practitioners with patient care.
  • Perform all clinical functions in a physician’s office.
  • Assist the physician with treatments.
  • Obtain specimens from patients and process properly.
  • Maintain medical information and filing/scanning.
  • Maintain sample supplies.
  • Order and maintain clinical supplies as needed.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Obtain histories and vitals from patients.
  • Triage patient calls.
  • Handle prescription refills.
  • Call backs for normal or abnormal results as per physician direction.
  • Process prior authorizations as needed.
  • Answer telephone and schedule appointments as needed.
  • Provide nursing care as per state board regulations (for LPN role).
