About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team at Windermere Care Centre in Vancouver, BC. This role is part of the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs), an initiative aimed at enhancing nursing practice and strengthening quality of care. The LPN will practice within a client and family-centred care model and adhere to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice. Working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary care team, the LPN will perform full-scope practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes in a designated specialty area. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting client care, as well as providing support to clients and their families. The LPN will also support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex care needs, maintaining and advancing clinical competence.

Requirements

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care.
• Providing support to clients and their families.
• Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
• Supporting the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Maintaining and advancing clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.
