About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Discharge Lounge team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. This role operates within a client and family-centred care model and adheres to the standards of practice set by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). The LPN will work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, performing the full scope of practical nursing for clients with predictable outcomes. This includes assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of client care, as well as providing support to clients and their families. The LPN will also support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex needs, requiring advanced knowledge and skills. Maintaining and advancing clinical competence is essential. VCH is committed to the provincial implementation of minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document client care.
  • Provide support to clients and their families.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where acuity or complexity requires advanced knowledge and skill.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licensed Practical Nurses.
