About The Position

Provides basic nursing care in a non-acute ambulatory patient setting in accordance with the State Board of Nursing, Nurse Practice Act, professional standards of care, state regulations, accreditation standards and Prisma Health’s philosophy, policies and procedures. This position is bonus eligible. The LPN will provide patient care based upon an individualized plan of care as delegated by the Registered Nurse/Provider, including patient's physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs. They will assist the provider with examinations, procedures, and other activities related to patient care, and arrange for patient appointments for diagnostic testing, consults, referrals, and admission to the hospital. The role involves monitoring and maintaining stock of medical supplies and proper functioning of equipment, documenting patient's vital statistics and other encounter data into the patient chart, and obtaining a brief medical history and chief complaint from patients. Additionally, the LPN will promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through patient education, prepare and clean exam rooms, and receive and return clinically related telephone calls and messages. They will also complete medical/physical history forms for insurance companies, administer oral and injectable medications as directed by a provider, and serve as a role model while participating in educating and mentoring other members of the care team. The position requires attending department and organization meetings, completing compliance training, practicing safe and efficient use of supplies and resources, and maintaining a clean, safe, and caring environment. The LPN is expected to assume responsibility for their own professional development and continuing education, and may serve as a preceptor, unit champion, or participate in shared governance. Adherence to all compliance, policies, and procedures of the organization is mandatory. This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Requirements

  • Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing.
  • No experience required.
  • Holds a current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an LPN in the state the team member is working.
  • If an LPN team member working in this position obtains RN licensure, Prisma Health will accept RN licensure for a limited time until the team member can be placed in an RN position. Team members should immediately notify their manager and Talent Acquisition if they are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.

  • In lieu of completion of a LPN program, will accept program equivalency recognized by the State Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • May administer oral and injectable medications as directed by a provider.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
  • Serves as a role model and participates in educating and mentoring other members of the care team.
