About The Position

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is implementing minimum Nurse to Patient Ratios (mNPRs) to enhance nursing practice and quality of care. This initiative is a collaboration between the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU), and health organizations. VCH is committed to fostering quality practice and learning environments. The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr. This role involves working as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. The LPN will practice within a client and family-centred care model and adhere to the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice. Responsibilities include performing full-scope practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated specialty area, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of client care. The LPN will also provide support to clients and their families. In collaboration with an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, the LPN will support the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or complex care needs. Maintaining and advancing clinical competence according to BCCNM standards is also required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performing full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty.
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care.
  • Providing support to clients and their families.
  • Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
  • Supporting the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Maintaining and advancing clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.
