About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Procedural Licensed Practical Nurse for its Interventional Pain Clinic. This role requires spending 50% or more of the time supporting clinic procedures within the scope of licensure. Responsibilities include independently supporting departmental clinic-based procedures, performing necessary documentation, setting up sterile fields, preparing and cleaning procedure rooms, and managing the sterilization/high-level disinfection of procedural instruments. The nurse will also implement principles of decontamination and standard precautions, and provide independent clinical procedural patient care. The position involves a M-F schedule with 4x10 hour shifts and requires the ability to handle a large workflow. Experience in inpatient/outpatient procedures is a plus, and phlebotomy skills are highly desirable.

  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains work environment in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintains and cares for procedure equipment and supplies.
  • Ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot all basic procedural equipment in clinic.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and maintenance of sterility of surgical/procedural field with ability to set up sterile field in ambulatory setting for in clinic procedures.
  • Facilitates patient care by assisting the provider before, during and after ambulatory procedures.
  • Completes patient procedural documentation accurately and completely.
  • Prepares instrumentation and equipment according to recommended procedures and techniques in preparation for high level disinfection and sterilization to support clinic procedural operations as needed.
