About The Position

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Licensed Practical Nurse I for the Murray Developmental Center located in Centralia, Illinois to perform a variety of beginning level practical nursing functions on an assigned shift. Provides direct nursing care based on the individual’s nursing plan of care. Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of individuals. Administers medication and assists in the maintenance of clinical records. Implements appropriate interventions.

Requirements

  • Requires Illinois license as a practical nurse.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, such as personal computers.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Requires the ability to obtain and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of beginning level practical nursing functions on an assigned shift.
  • Assists physician/registered nurse with physical exams or other treatments.
  • Transcribes physician orders, administers medication, documents medication administration, assists in the maintenance of clinical records, observes and reports/records individual response to medication administered.
  • Implements appropriate interventions, including steps in progressive limit setting e.g., verbal redirection, timeout, seclusion, and restraints.
  • Attends mandatory training and in-service training/workshops in order to facilitate the development and refinement of therapeutic skills.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
